The Central Valley's largest tech competition is coming to Bakersfield!

Prepare for an epic, 59-day competition. You’ll have nearly two months to take your idea off the shelf, build something magnificent, and pitch it. It’s a marathon. A fun marathon.

Throughout the competition, we’ll give you plenty of opportunities to learn and brainstorm through our speaker series, #FreakingBrilliant. Want to hear from past competitors? We’ve got you covered. Nervous about how to pitch? Covered too.

It will all culminate in the Grand Expo, a huge two-day event during which you’ll showcase your product to the community and pitch it to our panel of judges. First, second, and third place teams in BOTH tracks will take home cash prizes.

There are two tracks:

  • No Code: Take your idea and build it from scratch. Once the clock strikes 12:01 am on September 7th, you can write your first line of code!

  • In Progress: Maybe you have a project that you partially built out a few years (or even months) ago! Dive back in and compete in this category.

First place teams in BOTH tracks will take home $10,000!!!
Second place teams in both tracks will take home $5,000
Third place teams in both tracks will take home $2,500

Competition Rules - Check out our rules for the competition here.

The competition has started, but there's still time to join!

Make sure you register your team below before 11:59pm on Friday, Sep. 20th!

Then join us for our first #FreakingBrilliant Speaker-Series event this Thursday, Sep. 19th, taking place from 6:30pm-8pm at the Weill Institute. You'll get to hear from Austin Llach about his experience launching tech startups, hear from our team about how to score points in the Business Viability category, and get to meet other people already competing or wanting to join a team!

(Also, if you want to learn more about the competition, and even meet people for your team, this is a great opportunity to do just that!)

Build your team and join this next chapter for tech in Kern County!
